Lachlan MacDonald (1906-1991). Left St Kilda at evacuation.
“Sometimes we would help to bring the peats down. We would go to the top of the hill to the cleits and we would put the peats in a canvas bag. When we were young, we could pull the bag on the snow and ski it down to the house, otherwise we would have to be humping it on our back. So the snow came in handy sometimes.”
