Ruined Arch, Achurch
In the late eighteenth century, Sir Thomas Powys, first Lord Lilford obtained permission from an act of parliament to demolish Lilford church. This was to use the salvaged materials to repair the nearby Church of St. John the Baptist in Achurch.
The surplus stone was used to erect a landscape feature in the form of three arches in the wooded area known as ‘The Lynches’ close by. One arch remains standing, tha remaining stones fallen and scattered.
